I received my 14" Lumodi beauty dish for Christmas this year and was a little disappointed at how flimsy it seemed. I took it out of the storage bag it came with and put it back thinking I would return it after Christmas. I had read a lot of good reviews from some reputable photographers and I didn't understand how they could steer me wrong.
A few days after Christmas I took it out of it's storage bag, watched the video on the Lumodi.com website and figured out how to attach it to my Canon 430EX II flash. After I mounted it I took a few pictures of my Loyal Chihuahua and it seemed to be OK. I still wasn't convinced that I would not return it.
A day or two later my sister came over as I was setting it up to do some self portraits with it. I shot a few pictures of her and uploaded them to CS5 and began looking at the light it produced. Very Nice. I had forgotten about the Diffuser that went over the front of the light, but I really liked the light that came off it bare. Very even, unlike an umbrella you don't have to worry about over spill and it is so light weight you can pick it up and move it to a different spot without worrying about it toppling over.
I again tried the same setup with my daughter, only this time I used the diffuser. Wow! Very lovely lighting. This beauty dish is now one of my favorite things to use for portraits. Thanks Lumodi.com for making this AWESOME beauty dish. If you would like to see more of my work you can do so on my website, sharnaleephotography.com
